Overview

The Audio Production Bachelor of Science at Full Sail University prepares students for a career in audio production, spanning the domains of independent recording engineers, editors, vocal specialists, and other craftspeople who work in small facilities and project studios. As such, this program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and professional protocols necessary to conduct business as an independent audio creator. Through the curriculum, students work with industry-standard tools, including Pro Tools and Logic Pro, along with AI-assisted tools such as iZotope Ozone. Courses cover broad techniques and disciplines such as listening skills, production and vocal techniques, audio postproduction, and advanced editing and mixing skills. The Audio Production Bachelor of Science program also offers foundational courses emphasizing critical thinking, problem-solving, professional writing, and analysis skills. As the field increasingly adopts AI-assisted tools, students will learn to apply them as a support to their creative and technical audio judgment. Students will graduate with a portfolio of recorded, mixed, and mastered audio, including examples of music, film sound, and game audio, assembled to professional standards and suitable for presentation to employers and clients.

Objective
Bachelor's Objective  

The goal of the Audio Production Bachelor of Science degree program is to prepare students to pursue entry-level industry positions and independent audio professional roles in the recording and audiovisual communications industry, such as remote recording engineer, location audio recordist, project studio engineer, music editor, and mix engineer. Across the curriculum, students will build core technical competencies, including recording, mixing, audio postproduction, and sound design, and apply these skills through hands-on project-based work. With a focus on computer-based, project-studio production, students will develop the abilities to record and mix audio for music projects, games, new media, video, television, and film. Courses in the program also develop students' critical-thinking and listening skills as well as their creative problem-solving abilities to support lifelong learning and an enduring career within the recording industry. Students will also build fluency with current audio production tools and workflows, including AI-assisted tools applied as a support to their creative and technical audio judgment.
