The Live Event Production Bachelor of Science at Full Sail University prepares students to pursue careers in live event production—whether it is the concert and touring market, corporate productions, or other creative domains with production expertise at their core. Students will become immersed in the world of contemporary audio, lighting, and video technology, learning the theories and principles behind these components and gaining extensive experience with professional-level gear used in the industry. Students will work with industry-standard tools, including Ross Carbonite production switchers, DiGiCo digital mixing consoles, Q-SYS, and Smaart acoustic measurement software, along with AI-assisted tools such as Waves and iZotope RX. After building competence with production concepts in an educational setting, students will apply their skills in real-world scenarios by participating in specific event productions. They will develop the toolkit needed to navigate live events from various technical, practical, creative, and professional perspectives. In addition to gaining live event production skills, courses in the program also span physical science, professional writing, leadership, and career planning and entrepreneurship strategies to prepare for the expectations of the industry. As the field increasingly adopts AI-assisted tools, students will learn to apply them as a support to their production judgment and workflows. Graduates will exit with a portfolio of live event production work examples, assembled to professional standards and suitable for presenting their skills to prospective employers and clients.
The goal of the Live Event Production Bachelor of Science degree program is to provide students with a focused knowledge and understanding of live-event production needed to qualify for entry-level industry positions in sound reinforcement, lighting, live video and multimedia, automated lighting, concert touring, and audio measurement system analysis. Across the curriculum, students will build core technical competencies in live sound, lighting design, video production systems, and live production management and apply these skills through hands-on project-based work. In addition to technical proficiency and creative development, courses will cultivate students' critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills that contribute to lifelong learning and sustaining an enduring professional career. Students will also gain fluency with current live event production tools and formats, including AI-assisted tools to implement in support of their unique production judgment and system workflows.
