The Graphic Design Bachelor of Science program at Full Sail University prepares students to create purposeful visual communication that informs, engages, and influences audiences across print, interactive, digital experiences, and emerging media. Through branding, visual identity, advertising, package design, publication design, user interface design, and interactive experiences, students learn how design can shape understanding, build connections, and communicate ideas effectively. Students will explore the design process from research and concept development through execution and implementation while learning to balance creativity, audience needs, communication goals, accessibility, and intended outcomes. Coursework emphasizes visual problem-solving, design strategy, and audience-centered thinking.
Students will work with industry-standard design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, and Figma, as well as web design technologies and AI-assisted tools such as Adobe Firefly and Figma for supporting communication and design workflows. As AI-assisted tools continue to evolve within design and visual communication, students will learn to evaluate and integrate them in support of their creative and technical decision-making, emphasizing the responsible use of emerging tools in ways that support human creativity, authorship, and design effectiveness. Project-based learning encourages students to actively participate in critique, integrate feedback, and refine their work through an iterative design process. Students also examine the ethical, cultural, and social responsibilities of designers and the influence visual communication has on individuals, communities, and organizations.
Graduates complete their studies with a portfolio showcasing work developed throughout the program, demonstrating their ability to create effective design solutions, solve communication challenges, integrate research and planning into the design process, and contribute to an evolving creative landscape.
The goal of the Graphic Design Bachelor of Science program is to prepare students to create effective visual communication across branding, advertising, digital experiences, interactive experiences, content creation, and related design fields. Students build the focused knowledge and practical skills of contemporary design production needed to pursue entry-level industry roles such as graphic designers, media designers, web designers, digital-image processors, and art directors. They develop proficiency in visual communication, design systems, audience-centered problem-solving, and cross-platform design practices while strengthening critical thinking, conceptual development, and collaboration skills. Coursework emphasizes the ability to balance creativity, functionality, accessibility, audience needs, and intended outcomes while making informed and purpose-based design decisions.
Through project-based learning, critique, and testing, students learn to progress their work based on feedback, evidence, and observation. Students develop proficiency with industry-standard design workflows and emerging AI-assisted creative processes, learning to apply them as a support to their creative and technical decision-making while maintaining creative authorship and human-centered judgment. Students also examine the ethical, cultural, and social impact of design. Graduates leave with a portfolio demonstrating their ability to create effective design solutions, solve communication challenges, and contribute to a variety of visual communication environments as adaptable and responsible design professionals.
