The Computer Science Bachelor of Science Completion program at Full Sail University familiarizes students with the design, development, and implementation of software-based solutions and other software products for the business, entertainment, and consumer markets. The curriculum provides hands-on experience with the tools, technologies, and workflows used in modern software development. Through a specialized focus, students will build practical skills using industry-standard development, collaboration, testing, and deployment tools, preparing students for careers in their chosen specialization and related emerging technology fields. Students work with integrated development environments such as Visual Studio, VS Code, Xcode, SwiftUI, and Android Studio; data science environments such as Jupyter Notebook; version control and collaboration tools like GitHub and Discord; project management platforms like Jira and Trello; and design and prototyping tools such as Figma, FigJam, and Matplotlib.
Students will learn to evaluate emerging technologies and apply industry-standard tools and methods to create high-quality software solutions. Students will engage in application creation by participating in various computer science projects that serve to demonstrate the differences between small programming projects and large-enterprise software-systems projects. After completing the core Computer Science curriculum, students will have the opportunity to choose a concentration in Artificial Intelligence, Mobile Development, or Web Development. As AI-assisted tools become increasingly integrated into software engineering practice, students will develop the AI literacy needed to use them effectively, responsibly, and ethically. Graduates will exit with a portfolio of software applications that demonstrate their ability to design, develop, test, and collaborate on real-world software projects. Students will deepen their expertise within their chosen specialization, preparing them for the professional practices and expectations in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.
The goal of the Computer Science Bachelor of Science Completion program is to prepare students to develop their software design and production capabilities and equip them to pursue entry-level positions in the realm of computer science. Across the curriculum, students will build core technical competencies in programming, data structures and algorithms, relational databases, software engineering, software architecture, and software testing through hands-on project-based learning. They will deepen their expertise through a specialization in a focused area of software engineering, developing advanced skills in technologies to prepare for a range of careers in the software industry. Depending on concentration, these may include software engineer, software architect, computer applications engineer, iOS or Android engineer/programmer, UI developer, AI developer, and machine learning developer.
Courses cultivate students' lifelong learning and critical-thinking skills through threaded research, analysis, and professional development. Students will be equipped to create their own software-application project and articulate and deliver this project using appropriate communications and business strategies. The program also builds students' fluency with current computer science tools and workflows, including AI-assisted tools that support informed decision-making and professional judgment in software engineering.
