The Simulation Engineering Bachelor of Science at Full Sail University prepares students for a career in simulation and visualization technologies, which have become prevalent throughout many aspects of education, science, training, and entertainment. From creating computerized models for understanding complex data to developing virtual environments for gaming, simulation and visualization technologies solve challenging problems, enable learning, and provide visual insight into abstract problems and ideas. The Simulation Engineering curriculum serves to equip future engineers to be able to develop simulation and visualization systems for a variety of emerging applications. Courses also provide students with the technical and critical-thinking skills needed to study, design, develop, and test simulation and visualization systems. Students work with industry-standard tools, including MATLAB, SolidWorks, Visual Studio, Unity, and Unreal, along with AI-assisted tools such as Claude, OpenAI, ChatGPT, CoPilot to serve as complements to their creative and engineering aptitudes.
Students develop their programming skills and are trained in the context of real-world approaches and emerging technologies in order to keep them in step with this dynamic industry. In addition to developing technical expertise and subject knowledge, the Simulation Engineering curriculum is designed to cultivate creativity. Students will learn strategies to apply to engineering simulations and visualizations and will leverage those methods to develop unique engineering projects of their own. As the field increasingly adopts AI-assisted tools, students will learn to apply them as a support to their engineering workflow and process. Graduates will exit with a portfolio showcasing their digital fabrication projects, interactive prototypes, and VR/AR experiences that demonstrate technical as well as creative abilities, suitable for presentation to employers and clients.
The goal of the Simulation Engineering Bachelor of Science degree program is to develop engineers with the creative and critical-thinking skills and technical expertise required to produce simulations and visualizations based on real-world needs and applications. The curriculum integrates programming, microcontrollers, digital fabrication, and XR technologies in a series of hands-on projects that progressively develop students' technical and problem-solving skills. Students learn how to test and validate these simulations and visualizations, demonstrating the competencies needed to work in this growing industry. Courses address programming, simulation electronics, visualization software, machine intelligence, 3-D rendering, behavior modeling, mission-critical systems, analysis methods, leveraging content libraries, and simulation environments. This program is designed to prepare students to engage in constructive simulations and visualizations for training and entertainment applications. Graduates of the Simulation Engineering Bachelor of Science degree program will be equipped to enter the workforce as entry-level simulation engineers in a collaborative environment. Students also build fluency with the current simulation engineering tools and workflows, including AI-assisted tools applied as a support to their engineering workflow and critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
