Full Sail University’s Media Design Master of Fine Arts degree program provides an in-depth look at design and the role that it plays in bridging the gap between the design studio and business entities, building the knowledge critical to performance in roles such as creative director, brand strategist, and consultant. Successful companies rely heavily on strong visual representation to deliver their message to the public, and the ability to direct those visuals is an increasingly vital asset to enterprises everywhere. The program begins with a focus on the theory and psychology behind effective media design. Students will study the concepts that drive successful and ethical design campaigns, including research, client communications, and team dynamics. They will work with industry-standard tools, including Adobe Creative Cloud for design, PowerPoint and Keynote for presentations, and Figma for web and mobile development, along with AI-assisted tools such as Envato and Speechify to help create voice-over for assets and Perplexity and ChatGPT for exploring design case studies. Coursework provides hands-on experience with design production while navigating the steps of the production process in action with companies worldwide.
Students will document closely what they have learned through the program and will ultimately create a design solution, making use of the branding, strategy, and workflow techniques they have gained, to be presented to a panel of professionals and peers. This project develops students' ability to channel their artistic skills into a vision that is both creative and professional, preparing them for key initiatives they will encounter in the fast-paced realm of media design. As the field increasingly adopts AI-assisted tools, students will learn to apply them as a support to their design judgment. Graduates will exit with a portfolio of advanced media-design work featuring imagery, logos, branding assets, and video they have produced, assembled to professional standards and suitable for presentation to employers and clients.
The goal of the Media Design Master of Fine Arts degree program is to provide the focused knowledge and understanding of design research, psychological and motivational theories, ethics of design, media design elements, and technology applications to enhance the ability to solve complex design problems in academic, entertainment, and corporate environments. Across the curriculum, students will build core technical competencies in brand development, applied design, visual and verbal communication, copywriting for multiple media platforms, and multiplatform delivery and will apply these skills through hands-on project-based work. Courses will hone students' time management and team-building skills for application in the development and execution of compelling, effective design solutions. Students will also build fluency with current media design tools and workflows, including AI-assisted tools applied ethically as a complement to their design judgment.
