The Business Intelligence Master of Science at Full Sail University equips students for a career in business intelligence and analytics. Today’s businesses have access to a vast amount of information that can be utilized to improve their products and services, make their companies run more effectively, and transform their models. Business intelligence analysts, data analysts, and BI developers collect and use data to solve real-world business challenges and support informed decision-making. The Business Intelligence Master of Science degree curriculum cultivates the business intelligence, analytics, and artificial intelligence competencies that enable data professionals to evaluate operational conditions, identify trends, generate insights, and support strategic business decisions. Courses in data management, statistical analysis, and business intelligence technologies build core knowledge and skills while emphasizing ethical and privacy tenets as well as critical thinking. Students will work with industry-standard tools, including SQL and Python, along with explainable AI features in Microsoft Power BI such as Key Influencers, Decomposition Trees, Machine Learning, Data Mining, and Decision Intelligence.
Building on data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) knowledge, students will gain advanced skills in data modeling, analytics, and decision support, enabling BI professionals to operate at a strategic level. To refine their critical thinking and communication skills, students will navigate real issues facing businesses through lessons in data visualization, creative reporting, and leadership development. Students will acquire practical skills in creating interactive dashboards, and each course progresses students’ academic research skills and methodologies. A comprehensive capstone project is finalized and delivered in the last month of the degree. As the field increasingly adopts AI-assisted tools, students will learn to apply them as a support to their analytical judgment. Students will graduate with a portfolio of business-intelligence and analytics work that includes interactive dashboards, data visualizations, analytical presentations, strategic assessments, and business communications designed to demonstrate their technical and decision-support capabilities.
The objective of the Business Intelligence Master of Science degree program is to prepare students to collect, manage, analyze, interpret, and transform data into actionable business insights that improve organizational performance and support strategic decision-making. Through project-based learning activities and guided academic research applications, students will acquire a deep and agile proficiency in business intelligence analytics, enterprise data management, data mining, data visualization, statistical analysis, and performance measurement.
The curriculum reflects the growing role of artificial intelligence in modern business intelligence environments. Students learn to leverage AI-assisted and machine-learning-driven insights, including explainable AI (XAI) tools integrated into industry-standard platforms such as Power BI, to uncover trends, communicate findings, and support business decision-making. Graduates develop the technical, analytical, and leadership skills needed to translate complex data into meaningful business outcomes and serve as effective partners bridging organizational leaders and technical teams.
