Overview

The Information Technology Bachelor of Science program at Full Sail University guides students through the concepts of the virtualization of systems and networks as well as the emerging technologies used to handle and deliver media-rich information to individuals, businesses, and institutions around the globe. The curriculum provides students a comprehensive understanding of cloud architecture, the communication and storage of information, and the management of systems through project plans and industry best practices. Students work with industry-standard cloud computing platforms and tools, including AWS and Microsoft Azure, and they are encouraged to investigate and implement a variety of trusted AI-assisted tools that are widely utilized in business.

Students apply the computing architecture, information storage, and systems administration skills and techniques learned toward comprehensive hands-on projects. Projects involve designing and building solutions in a collaborative environment modeled on authentic industry workflows. As a result, students are equipped to implement private, public, and hybrid clouds; securely interconnect and distribute information through various networks; and scale, administer, and manage systems. As the field increasingly adopts AI-assisted tools, students will learn to apply them as a support to their technical judgment and critical thinking. Graduates will exit with a portfolio of hands-on projects demonstrating their ability to design and deploy virtualized systems, manage networked environments, and build scalable cloud infrastructure using private, public, and hybrid cloud models.

Today’s information-technology professionals require a significant depth and breadth of both knowledge and skills to compete in the growing and dynamic field of cloud computing. Across the curriculum, students develop core technical competencies such as networking, systems administration, virtualization, cloud infrastructure, and security and apply these skills through hands-on projects. In addition to gaining a foundational understanding of virtualizing systems, networks, and storage, students are equipped to create software-defined data centers that leverage this technology. The goal of the Information Technology Bachelor of Science degree program is to develop students' ability to virtualize information via distributed networks and the cloud, preparing graduates to enter the information technology field with the expertise to define and develop the virtualization and interconnection of data and media. Students also build fluency with current information technology tools and workflows, including AI-assisted tools applied as professional aids that support, not replace, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
