The 3D Arts undergraduate certificate program at Full Sail University introduces students to the artistic and technical foundations of 3D content creation. Through project-based coursework, students explore modeling, lighting, composition, and visual development while learning how creative ideas move from concept to finished digital work. Students develop foundational skills in 3D modeling, asset creation, lighting, and digital content production while applying core art principles such as scale, proportion, composition, and visual communication. As they progress, they are familiarized with the career paths, professional expectations, and production-studio methods of 3D artists.
Students will work with industry-standard 3D tools such as Autodesk Maya alongside AI-assisted tools such as Adobe Firefly and Adobe Substance 3D Painter to support their technical abilities and artistic judgment. As AI-assisted tools continue to influence creative industries, students will learn to evaluate and apply them as a complement to their creative work, using technology thoughtfully in concert with creativity and visual problem-solving strategy. Students complete the certificate with a portfolio demonstrating their growth in constructing 3D models, assets, lighting studies, and rendered work to serve as a foundation for continued study in animation, game art, and related creative disciplines.
The goal of the 3D Arts undergraduate certificate program is to develop students' foundational skills in 3D modeling, visual design, and digital content creation through the integration of artistic principles, technical skills, and introductory production workflows. Students will learn how scale, proportion, composition, and form contribute to effective visual communication and creative expression, building the craft and marketability of aspiring 3D modelers and artists as well as a foundation for their continued study.
Through project-based learning, students develop skills in modeling, lighting, asset creation, and visual problem-solving while learning how creative ideas move from concept to finished work. Coursework guides students in organizing creative projects and responding to feedback while working to production-studio protocols and industry standards in the field of 3D arts.
Students develop proficiency with contemporary creative technologies and emerging AI-assisted creative processes, learning to evaluate and apply them as a complement to their individual creativity, artistic intent, and technical development. Throughout the certificate, students develop creative confidence and foundational production skills and complete a portfolio demonstrating their progress in 3D modeling, asset creation, lighting, and visual communication.
