The Web Development Bachelor of Science program at Full Sail University focuses on the architecture, interactivity, and programming needed to integrate and deploy modern websites and web applications, preparing students for a career in web development. Students will begin to unlock the secrets of effective web development in all forms by coding and publishing standards-based web applications. In developing dynamic and engaging web-based solutions, students will implement industry-standard tools, including modern client-side and server-side languages, relational and nonrelational database structures, and frameworks used in modern web stacks. They are also encouraged to investigate a variety of trusted AI-assisted tools that are widely utilized in business. Students will learn how to deliver information through web-based solutions that are consumed by diverse endpoints through project plans and common industry workflows. In addition, students will explore fundamental security concepts and best practices to protect web applications, user data, and digital assets. Through the program’s curriculum, students will gain experience creating projects for real-word applications, cultivating the skillset needed for modern web development roles. As the field increasingly adopts AI-assisted tools, students will learn to apply them as a support to their essential design skills and individual judgment. Graduates will exit with a portfolio of their work including websites and web applications, assembled to professional standards and suitable for presentation to employers and clients.
The goal of the Web Development Bachelor of Science degree program is to provide students with a focused knowledge and understanding of web development and production. Across the curriculum, students build core technical competencies, including front-end interface programming, server-side development, database systems, cloud deployment, and application security, and apply these skills through hands-on, project-based work. Students develop an understanding of programming for web applications and are equipped to test, deploy, scale, and secure web solutions for consumption by a variety of users. By integrating a variety of cloud-native and service provider ecosystems, students will also analyze metrics to determine how to build effective and tailored web solutions. In addition to technical proficiency, courses develop students' critical-thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills that contribute to lifelong learning and sustaining an enduring career in the technology industry. Students also gain experience with current web development tools and workflows, including AI-assisted tools applied as professional aids that support, not replace, programming knowledge and problem-solving skills.
