The Human-Computer Interaction graduate certificate program at Full Sail University provides students with advanced knowledge of computer science topics such as user interface, user experience, user-centered design, interaction design, human factors, sensation, perception, visual design, and graphic design. The curriculum also enables students to visualize design and usability test results using extended reality. Students will use industry-standard tools that support human-computer interaction, usability research, and evidence-based design. Through project-based learning, students will develop the skills to investigate user needs, evaluate interactive systems, and communicate research findings. They will also gain experience with scholarly research resources and collaboration platforms that support applied research and professional communication. Students will develop a small project by utilizing research skills to design a user-test, collect and analyze data, visualize data using extended reality, and make recommendations based on the information gathered. The knowledge and skills gained throughout this graduate certificate program will increase students’ understanding of how humans sense and perceive information and why this information is useful for product development. As AI-assisted tools become increasingly integrated into human-computer interaction and usability research, students will learn to use them responsibly, ethically, and effectively to support their technical expertise, critical thinking, research, and professional judgment. Students will build a portfolio of usability studies, user research projects, interactive system prototypes, user experience evaluations, and technical research that demonstrates their ability to investigate user needs, evaluate interactive systems, and communicate evidence-based recommendations using rigorous research methods.
The objective of the Human-Computer Interaction graduate certificate program is to provide students with foundational knowledge in the theory and techniques utilized in the design, development, and evaluation of digital products using user-centered design. Across the curriculum, students will develop advanced competencies in human-computer interaction, usability research, user experience evaluation, and applied research. Through hands-on project-based learning, students will conduct user research, evaluate interactive systems, and apply evidence-based research methodologies to solve complex, real-world problems. Upon completion of this graduate certificate program, students will be able to collect, analyze, and visualize data using extended reality in order to make product recommendations and improvements. Students will also develop fluency with the professional tools, AI-assisted technologies, and workflows used in human-computer interaction research, strengthening their technical expertise, critical thinking, research, and professional judgment.
