Overview

The Creative Writing undergraduate certificate program at Full Sail University provides students with an expert-curated introduction to character creation, story development, and the fundamentals of creative communication. Students will study industry-specific formatting conventions for various applications in the professional arena. Students will work with industry-standard tools, including Final Draft and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, along with AI-assisted tools such as Meta, Adobe Firefly, ElevenLabs, Suno, and ChatGPT for supplying assets to complement their creative writing pursuits. While building their skill set using new media tools and exploring a variety of communication platforms, students will also learn how to create written narrative content for distinct commercial audiences. As the field increasingly adopts AI-assisted tools, students will learn to apply them as a support to their editorial and creative judgment. Students will complete the certificate with a portfolio of original written work, assembled to professional standards and suitable for presentation to employers and clients.

Objective
Certificate's Objective

The Creative Writing undergraduate certificate program provides students with fundamental knowledge of the narrative process. Across the curriculum, students will build core technical competencies, including story development in multiple modes, that will be applied through hands-on project-based work. The knowledge and skills gained via this curriculum will enhance students' craft and marketability as writing and multimedia content professionals. Students will also build fluency with industry-current creative tools and workflows, including AI-assisted tools applied as a support to their editorial and creative judgment, never as a replacement for it.
