The Public Relations and Reputation Management course surveys the contradictory roles of public relations within media. Students will assess how strategic communication enhances individual journalistic entrepreneurship while potentially running counter to reporting and journalistic credibility. Students will gain essential techniques for developing authentic personal brands and build engaged audiences while maintaining journalistic integrity. They will analyze corporate PR strategies and their impact on news reporting, then wield practical methods to identify promotional influence in source materials. Through learning to detect and leverage audience engagement and perception management across platforms, students will develop a deep understanding of the complex interplay between journalism and public relations.
