The Fundamentals of Multimedia Journalism course introduces students to the expansive skill set of today’s journalist. This industry demands meticulous reporting, writing, and editing skills combined with digital content abilities in strategy, community building, brand development, and entrepreneurship. Taking on the role of beat reporters, students will choose and develop a content topic that provides news value to an audience. They will examine core journalistic principles such as integrity, factual accuracy, and avoidance of bias. They will adopt industry-standard practices and workflows, including the ethical use of artificial intelligence, in their work. In addition, they will launch an online portfolio they will curate throughout the program.
